The first map, titled Darra Gun Market, is set in the largest illegal arms market in the world. Based in Pakistan, the market is run by a tribal leader and is off limits to police.
The second map takes place in Chitral, a remote area north of Pakistan governed by tribes. Coinciding with the release of the film, the maps will be available as paid DLC on December 17 in North America for $9.99 and the same week in Europe for £7.99.
Proceeds from the film tie-in will be donated to charity as part of EA and Sony’s Project Honor campaign. At least $1 million will be donated as part of the campaign, with a minimum of $1 from every sale going to non-profit veteran charities.
“Working with Project Honor is a meaningful way for us to continue our support for combat veterans throughout the armed services,” said Zero Dark Thirty writer and producer Mark Boal.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this effort, and we’re humbled that EA is stepping up to the plate with such a significant contribution,” he added.
Zero Dark Thirty is Bigelow’s first feature since her 2010 ‘Best Picture’ winner The Hurt Locker. It stars Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Ehle, Chris Pratt and Mark Duplass.
