Funcom to develop a LEGO Minifigures MMO photo

Funcom have signed an agreement with the LEGO group to develop a MMO based on the Lego Minifigures franchise. “The market for family-friendly online experiences intended for children and youngsters is brimming with potential,”says Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. “Being able to work with a world-renowned brand such as the LEGO brand to develop an MMO for this audience is incredibly exciting to us as game developers and for Funcom as a company. This is source material we all know and love and we simply cannot wait to get started working with the LEGO Group on realizing this exciting project.”

Gears of War: Judgment will not support Kinect

Gears of War developer Cliffy Bleszinski has revealed that the latest title in the series ‘Gears of War: Judgment’ will not feature Kinect support. After revealing this, the developer gave the Kinect a pity compliment in for the form of this quote: “I like Kinect, I’ve been a fan of it, but I don’t think it has been fully realised as far as the potential of the device. Dance Central 3 looks great and all, but I’m curious how the ‘core’ games will work out.”

This comes after Epic Games revealed that the title ‘Gears of War: Exile’, which would have featured full Kinect support, was scrapped earlier this year. Even though the game was never officially confirmed, the rumour was the game would be an ‘on-rails Kinect shooter’. After this cancellation, many thought that Judgment would incorporate the rumoured title promised, but with this revelation by the games developer, it appears not.

Microsoft unveil new Surface tablets

Microsoft have revealed a series of new tablets to rival Apple’s iPad. The first two Surface models unveiled include a Windows RT edition and a Windows 8 Pro device.

Expendables 2 game is in the making

A leak from the Australian Classification Board has outed that the already speculated Expendables 2 game is in the works and will be published by Ubisoft last nights listing revealed. No platform details or release date where given but it is probably safe to assume the games release will tie in with the movies release this August. Whether or not the games plot will follow the same as the movies or whether it will feature it’s own unique story is yet to be revealed as well as the style of gameplay we can expect to see other than that it will include a chopper mini game.  With Statham, Li, Stallone and Norris to name but a few we can no doubt expect lots of guns, explosions and the odd knife fight and who knows maybe these action heroes can save the world of movie game tie-ins and improve there reputation.
