Tomb Raider will contain a “variety of multiplayer modes”, a recent retail listing has revealed.
The Tomb Raider product description on UK retailer GAME’s website originally listed a team-based multiplayer mode in which Lara’s shipmates would be pitted against the island’s scavengers.
The listing, which was spotted by All Games Beta, has since been removed and replaced with information about Tomb Raider’s E3 awards.
It is thought that the multiplayer component relates to a special announcement teased by the development team back in November.
Tomb Raider is a reboot of the classic series, where Lara Croft finds herself shipwrecked on a hostile island in a story that shapes her into the heroine seen in the original games.
Developer Crystal Dynamics confirmed earlier this year that the Tomb Raider reboot is not just a single game, hinting at future titles in the series.
Scribe Rhianna Pratchett is the lead writer on the game, saying she wants to bring a “depth and credibility to Lara”.
The game will also have timed DLC that will take place after the events of the main campaign.
