As you may have seen from our post last week every pre-order of Hitman Absolution will come with a code giving you access to the Hitman Sniper Challenge, a short 15 minute standalone game which tasks you with elimintaing you target as quickly and efficiently as possible all from a vantage point armed with only a sniper rifle. Is it good enough however to justify commiting yourself to purchasing Hitman Absolution especially when it is still several months away ? The short answer is yes but I’ll assume you want to know why.
If your familiar with the Hitman franchise then you will know that simply completing a mission is not satisfying enough and you will find yourself replaying the same mission several times looking for more creative ways to eliminate your target whilst trying to achieve that Silent Assassin rating.
Eventhough this is just a small mini game rather than a demo of Absolution it still contains all the elements of a full game in the series and will have you retrying over and over again just like the full games. The game gives you several challenges to complete ranging from shooting several “collectibles” to hinting at more inconspicuous to dispatch your targets. Some challenges also task with you with taking a more gun-ho approach to scenario such as killing all 15 targets with a headshot or finishing the challenge if just over 2 minutes but of course neither of these are up to Agent 47′s high standards and will not award you with the highest ranking but will multiply your score at the end. Not only will replaying for higher scores shift ou further up the rankings on the leaderboards for those all important bragging rights but will also add to your overall score which will gradually unlock more and greater improved attachments which you are awarded with at the start of the game and will also carry over to Himan Absolution.
So with the chance to unlock items for Hitman Absolution and hours of replay value this pre-order bonus is worth every minute of your time and although it stands seperate from Hitman Absolution it could well have been taken straight from it as it looks and plays as good as any of Agent 47′s previous assignments from the series. Therefore if this is just a taster of what awaits in Abosolution then great things can be expected from the main game and will leave you in no doubt that you have made the right choice in pre-ordering.
